Salestio offers a way to quickly push items from your e-commerce store to Amazon. The Amazon catalog is extensive, so the app can look up the product EAN or UPC in the store and list you as one of the sellers of the same item. But what if you don’t have a barcode? Some brands just don’t get one reserved, so there is an alternative.

Today we present a way to get your Shopify and BigCommerce items listed on Amazon without relying on barcodes, as you can use the built-in identifier system on the platform called ASIN.

If you need a refresher on UPCs, ASINs, and other identifiers, check out one of our recent articles.

Where to find the ASIN?

ASIN is assigned to any Amazon listing, so you can always look it up. Open the Amazon product page of the item that you want to sell to find the code. You can see it in 2 places:

The URL always contains the ASIN
ASIN is the first attribute in the “Product information” section

When looking up the ASIN, be sure to check the correct Amazon marketplace (US, France, etc.) Your product usually will have a different identifier for each region.

Set up the Selling List

Let’s organize the products before sending them to Amazon. We will create a new Selling List for our items and leave it with default profiles. Check if you are selecting the right marketplace, so the ASINs can work.

After creating the Selling List and populating it with items, we can assign an ASIN to each item. If you can provide a spreadsheet with SKUs and ASINs in your store, the support can save some time. For large lists of items, you can reach out to support at support@salest.io and get the codes assigned automatically. Otherwise, you can add the ASINs directly in the Selling List:

Send the items after adding the codes:

Select the items and click “Send to Amazon”

After a few minutes, the status will change. The linked items will continue updating price and stock in the background.

Any errors?

If the status changed to a Linking error or something else, the first thing is to check the logs and try to resolve the issue, then send the item again. If the next steps are not clear, feel free to use the help widget in the bottom right corner.
