Today we would like to discuss another topic, it’s custom pricing for ebay & Amazon listings.

When you start selling on online marketplaces like Amazon or eBay, you will start to pay an additional fee for this marketplace for export products or processing orders. And this extra fee could eat all profits from sales. So in order to solve this in Salestio — Amazon and Ebay integration, we give the possibility of flexibly adjusting pricing for marketplace listing.

Salestio app contains multiple features that allow you smartly increase pricing for your marketplace listing.

Let’s start with a simple and easy way to change the price of a listing.

Change price by a fixed percent

If you would like to increase the price by a specific percentage, let’s say 15%, you can do it directly inside Global Profile.

Global Profiles — it’s group of settings responsible for shared configuration between Ebay, Amazon and Etsy integration

Inside Global Profile, you can find a field named “Price Ratio” that will be used as a multiplicator for exported prices.

In the above example, the marketplace price will be calculated as Original Product Price x 1.15, which gives the equivalent of increasing the price by 15%

What if we need to apply discounts to marketplace products? Then we can use a coefficient of less than 1. If we set the value as “0.85”, then the product price will be multiplicity to this value and the final value will be less than one in your store.

Provide custom price value

Another option supported by Salestio – is Amazon & Ebay Integration, it’s the possibility to provide fully custom prices for marketplace listing.

This could be especially useful if you would like to set a very specific price, without using the Store price as the source.

For doing this, there are a few possible options.

  • Set “Custom Price” inside the Global profile — this option is not very scalable, because this value will be used for every product connected with this specific Global profile.
  • Using Shopify Metafields (only Shopify Integration) or Data from Product Ebay/Amazon tab (only PrestaShop Integration) — in this way price for the product is added inside Product details in the store, and then exporting data to the marketplace will use this price source. Please notice in this case Salestio will not do automatic price synchronization between the store and marketplace
  • Overwrite price value inside Selling List for individual listing (Only Shopify Amazon Integration) — this option gives you the possibility to set a custom price for amazon listing directly from the Selling List products to view page. This option will also disable automatic price updates on changes in the Shopify store, but it gives a lot of possibilities to customize exported prices

Pricing template for complex rules

Despite the fact that providing coefficients to prices inside Global profiles already gives us the possibility to modify the exported price, sometimes this rule is not enough for sufficiently precise customization.

So to give more complex options with Price customization, Salestio provides a functionality named “Price Template”

Price Template – is a special set of configurations defined how the price could be changed based on the initial product price and using elementary arithmetic operations, as plus, minus and multiplication

The price template could be found together with other Profiles, on a separate tab “Price Template”. It’s possible to create multiple price templates, but Global Profiles allow you to select online a single one.

Let’s take a look at different use cases and how these templates could be used by merchants.

Price Template for Compensate Marketpalce Fee

The marketplace selling fee is pretty high, so as a merchant it will be nice to include at least partly this fee in the listing cost.

Let’s assume we have the following conditions

  • Products with a price < 10, increase by +2$
  • Products with prices in the range from 10 to 1000, should be increased by 15%

So our price template will look like this:

  • price [in range] 0 … 10 -> then price [Template Based] -> “+2”
  • price [in range] 10 … 1000 -> then price [Template Based] -> “x0.15”

Price Template for Free Shipping

Nowadays most marketplaces buyers really enjoy free shipping. According to the latest statistics listings with free shipping get more sales compared to listings with paid shipping.

But “There ain’t no such thing as a free lunch”, so someone still needs to pay for shipping.

Let’s say our products have the following shipping conditions:

  • Price for products < $100, shipping cost $3
  • Products with a price between $100 and $500 are shipped with a $5 price
  • All other products have cost for shipping $10

So our price template will look like this:

  • price [in range] 0 … 100 -> then price [Template Based] -> “+3”
  • price [in range] 100 … 500 -> then price [Template Based] -> “+5”
  • price [in range] 500 … 5000 -> then price [Template Based] -> “+10”

Selling cheap products at a minimal price

Some marketplaces have a limitation that does not allows you to sell cheap products. Some of the sellers in this case try to sell packs of products. So the price for the pack becomes above the minimum price.

Another option is to increase the product price above the minimum limit.

So let’s say we have the following conditions, Ebay for our category defined a minimum price for listing $2. So every product below this price can’t be published here.

Let’s then set a custom price for listings with prices below $2 to $2.2, and for all other listings publish with product prices increased by 10%

We can create a price template like this:

  • price [in range] 0 … 2 -> then price [Custom] -> “x1” -> “2,2”
  • price [in range] 2 … 1000 -> then price [Template Based] -> “x1.10”
