When you manage your sales through multiple channels, it is important to keep an eye on your stock levels. This is especially true during the high sales seasons like the upcoming BFCM and Christmas periods.
Let’s say that you have a product or a number of products that sell the most. You have x pcs of this product in your warehouse. On a typical day, you sell 10 items through your website, 10 items through Amazon, 10 items through eBay, and 20 items through social media marketplaces. When you expect high sales, you would definitely want to plan ahead and have enough products in stock in various channels.
In today’s article, we want to show you how Salestio is beneficial for your business in managing stock levels on different selling platforms. It helps you handle your stock from Shopify, PrestaShop, BigCommerce, and Shopware.
There is a special functionality that defines item quantity rules when sending your products to Amazon and eBay. It is called Global Profile in Salestio and Selling Profile in PrestaBay. Below, we will show you what options our apps have and how you can set those rules on each e-commerce platform.
To update the stock on Amazon and eBay, Salestio uses the stock data from the Available Quantity field on the Shopify product page. By default, Salestio sends the exact number from this field. However, you can modify this behavior. This is what you would actually want to do in order to limit the qty sent to each marketplace.
Possible options in Global profile:
An important thing about Single and Custom options is that Salestio will not do automatic qty updates after single or custom stock is sent to the respective marketplace. It means that any changes in the Shopify stock field will not be reflected on Amazon and eBay.
What’s beautiful about Global profiles in Shopify is that one profile works for both integrations — Amazon and eBay.
Setting custom stock in BigCommerce and Shopware is pretty much the same as in Shopify. The only difference is that here Salestio works only for Amazon integration.
By default, Salestio sends exactly the same stock. You can also set Single, Custom, and “Not more than” stock.
Same works here. If you send single or custom stock, Salestio will not perform synchronization updates on Amazon after the stock is updated
in BigCommerce and Shopware.
Our PrestaBay module has more options in terms of managing stock rules. Let’s look into them. To access stock configuration, go to Catalog > eBay > Selling Profiles. You can modify an existing profile or create a new one. Stock settings are located under the Product tab.
The Item QTY field can be set to Single, Product Qty, Custom Qty, Not more than Qty. They work the same way as we described above for Salestio. Additionally, it has one more option “Reserve in PS Qty”. It works exactly as it sounds. Here you can define the stock level that will be reserved in PrestaShop, and all the rest qty will be sent to eBay. For example, you set “Reserve in PS Qty” to 5. There are 7 items in stock on PrestaShop. So, 5 will stay reserved for your PrestaShop store, and 2 will be sent to eBay.
This feature is important when you want to make sure that the item is always in stock for your online store buyers to purchase. Of course, when there is enough stock in the warehouse.
One important thing about eBay is that items on eBay get inactivated if the product goes out of stock. If you constantly keep renewing the stock for such items but still want your buyers to know that the items are not in stock at the moment, you can enable Out-of-Stock Control. In PrestaShop, go to Catalog > eBay > Synchronization. Under the Catalog, find Out-of-Stock Control and enable it. Make sure to also activate this option on your eBay profile.
This is basically it. A couple of clicks make your stock levels efficient enough to be sold through various channels. Our application also allows managing not only stock levels but also price configurations. We will dive deep into these features in one of our next articles. So stay tuned!
