In today’s video, we would like to show you how to create variation listings on the Etsy marketplace with a help of the Salestio Application.
Etsy is a perfect marketplace for merchants who are selling handmade or Print on Demand products. It has a very clear structure and very fair pricing.
Today’s topic is about exporting products from your Shopify store to the Etsy marketplace. As a quick reminder, our video series focuses on selling your store’s products on online marketplaces such as Amazon, eBay, and Etsy. In previous videos, we discussed exporting products to Amazon and eBay, as well as importing orders to your Shopify store.
Today, we’ll be demonstrating how to export Shopify products with variations to Etsy using the help of Salestio.
For exporting products to online marketplaces, Salestio utilizes Selling Lists. A Selling List is a group of products that can be exported to an online marketplace and automatically synchronized for all changes in quantity and price. Each Selling List requires the selection of your Etsy account, mode (products or collection), the currency used for exported products, and an Etsy shipping profile. Additionally, it’s necessary to create two special settings groups from Salestio – the Global Profile and Creation Profile. Let’s take a closer look at how to create each of these settings.
First, let’s discuss the Etsy Shipping Profile. This profile must be created directly on the Etsy marketplace. You can find it inside your Etsy account seller dashboard, under the Settings page. There, you’ll see a section called “Shipping settings.” In this section, click on the “Create Profile” button and provide information about the shipping you provide for your Etsy items. You’ll need to set the country of origin with a postal code, how long it will take you to process orders, the type of shipping package based on buyer location, and the name of the profile. All shipping profiles created on Etsy will be available inside the Selling List, and you can choose it when creating a new Selling List.
The Global Profile is a set of settings that correspond to quantity and price details related to listings. It can be created from Salestio > Etsy > Profiles > Global Profile. Salestio automatically creates a default profile for you with standard settings but based on your needs, you can adjust how price and quantity details are transferred from Shopify products to the Etsy marketplace.
The Creation Profile is a special set of rules that allows Salestio to transform Shopify products into Etsy listings. It can be created from Salestio > Etsy > Profiles > Creation Profiles page. Let’s take a closer look at it.
Every Creation Profile contains information about the connection between Shopify product types or collections and information corresponding to the Etsy category. First, in the Creation Profile, you need to set a name for it that will be displayed inside Salestio. Then, you need to set what type of products you are selling – digital products with only download options, physical products that require shipping, or both. If the item will be shipped to the buyer and there will also be download options, you should select “Both”.
You should also provide information about the “When Made” product for order and “Who Made” this product, according to your product details. Additionally, please set the “Supply” option. Etsy expects you to make your items yourself, except when it’s a supply or craft tool.
Please keep in mind that each Selling List can have only one Creation Profile, but the same Creation Profile could be shared with multiple Selling Lists.
If your product title is longer than the allowed Etsy limit (140 characters), please activate the option “Automatically truncate long titles”, so Salestio will cut it to pass into Etsy requirements.
After setting up the general information for Creation Profile, you can start creating a connection between your Shopify product types or collections with a corresponding category on Etsy. For example, if you want to sell your T-Shirts on Etsy, you can select “Any condition” and then choose the Product Collection and select one of your collections from the list. You can repeat this process for other collections with T-Shirts as well.
Next, you need to choose the corresponding Etsy Category according to your product type. It’s important to note that for some of the categories, you may need to have approval for selling in this category.
If your products have variations, you need to activate the variation option. Etsy allows you to have multiple Variation Themes, but the type of theme should be one supported by the Etsy marketplace. For our T-Shirt example, we have two variation options: Size and Colour. We can choose the Colour variation first and then map it to the Shopify variation data. Then we can add the “Size” variation with mapping to the Shopify Size option. Once you finish creating the mapping condition, you can click on the “Add new mapping” button and then finally save the Creation profile.
After setting up the Etsy Shipping Profile and Creation profile, you can successfully create a Selling List by choosing the Product mode and selecting the products you would like to export to Etsy.
Inside the Selling List view, please click on the button “Add Products”, and then choose the products you would like to add to the Selling List.
All products you selected will be inserted into the Selling List with a “Not Linked” state. Please choose products you would like to export to the Etsy marketplace.
Once you have selected the products, click on the “Send to Etsy” button. If all the data is provided correctly, you should be able to find these products becoming available on your Etsy account and available for sale in a few minutes.
We have covered the general flow of exporting variation products to the Etsy marketplace with the help of the Salestio application. By following these steps, you can easily expand your product reach and increase your sales on Etsy.
Always ensure that all the necessary data, such as shipping, global, and creation profiles, are correctly set up before exporting your products.
We hope this video has been helpful in understanding how to use Salestio to export your Shopify products to Etsy.
