BigCommerce features Custom fields to allow for the addition of some extra product information. These details will appear on the storefront product page. For example, you can add a book’s release date, indicate the season for a jacket, or list the parts of a PC.
Salestio supports Custom fields in BigCommerce. Today, we will check out how to set it up and the ways to use the additional fields when publishing your store items on eBay.
Go to Products > View in BigCommerce and open your desired product. Scroll to the “Custom fields” section to add new lines. Click “Add Custom Fields” to add one.
The “Custom Field Name” is how it will appear on the storefront. This name is also how you can refer to the field in Salestio. The “Custom Field Value” is the content of the field. Salestio will pull this value when reading the field.
Add all the fields that you need and move on to another product. If you add your products in bulk using a CSV file, you can add Custom fields using that file too. Check out this help article from BigCommerce to learn more about bulk importing with Custom fields.
Now that the new information is added to the product page, you can configure Salestio to use it for your eBay listings. Go to Salestio > Profiles > Creation Profile. You can modify the existing eBay Creation Profile or create a new one. For the sake of this article, we will modify the existing Creation Profile and the existing Product mapping. In this example, we will send a baby toy to eBay and include data from its Custom fields.
To use a Custom field in the mapping, include it as text: “[custom_field(‘field name’)]”. So if your field is called “MPN”, it should be set like this in the mapping:
[custom_field('MPN')]
We used two Custom fields in the example mapping below. After adding all changes, remember to save the mapping and save the Creation profile.
Creation profile settings allow setting up customized titles for eBay. You can use the same custom field format to set it up. In the example below, the “ebay_title” custom field is used as a title when the product is sent.
With the Creation Profile configured, you can send your products to eBay. Go to your Selling List and add the desired item. Select the items in the Selling List and click “Send to eBay”. After the product is sent, all the Custom field data will be displayed in the respective fields on the marketplace.
If you have active eBay products in Linked status, you can update them to display new details. Go to your Selling List and select the products that need to be updated. Run the “Full Revise” action to update the items.
