Amazon Shipping Mapping is a feature in Salestio, that allows merchants to define a custom connection between Amazon Shipping names, Shopify Shipping Name, Carrier Codes, and Amazon tracking company. Its main purpose is to give you the possibility to customize the way you import products to Shopify and how the shipping is transferred to Amazon. This way, the shipping carriers will show up as required by Amazon even if their names are not exactly the same as on Shopify or BigCommerce.

Note! By default, Salestio transfers the shipping details exactly as they are added in your online store when the order is fulfilled. If the Shipping Service and Carrier name show up exactly as they are expected by Amazon, Shipping Mapping is not needed. The default values will work.

In this post, we will explore a practical application of Amazon Shipping Mappings. For a general guide on using the feature, check out this article: Custom Amazon Shipping Mapping in Salestio

We will be configuring mappings for one Amazon marketplace. Keep in mind that each mapping applies to a single marketplace. If you are managing multiple Amazon marketplaces, create an additional Shipping Mapping for each one. Before you start configuring, grab the list of accepted carriers on Amazon from Salestio documentation.

Adding an Amazon Shipping Mapping

To create a new mapping, navigate to the Profiles tab in Salestio. Select the Shipping Mapping category. If you added any mappings earlier, you can see them here. Click “Add Shipping” to start configuring:

In the default configuration (when no shipping mappings are added), Salestio will use the same values as in the Shopify or BigCommerce store when sending fulfillment to Amazon (Shipping Name, Carrier, and Tracking Company).

In the next sections, we will consider 2 possible cases. One is when the store uses only one shipping carrier, so only one mapping is needed. The other case is when the store uses multiple different carriers for shipping, and some services need customized values.

One shipping carrier

In situations when you need to configure the Shipping Mappings with one carrier, you only need to add the default mapping. Check the example below:

To clarify what this mapping will do: all imported orders from the United States Amazon marketplace will appear with the “USPS Standard Mail Envelopes” shipping name in your store order (also as Shipping service in the Amazon order, package section). These orders will use USPS Carrier Code and Tracking Company, and this information will also be sent to Amazon after you mark the Shopify or BigCommerce order as fulfilled.

In short, the Shipping Name corresponds to the Shipping service on Amazon, the Carrier Code translates to the Carrier on Amazon, and the Tracking Company allows Amazon to recognize your tracking code added during fulfillment.

When done, click “Create Shipping” at the top and wait for your next order. These settings will be applied when you fulfill your future Amazon orders in your e-commerce store.

Multiple shipping carriers

The configuration gets a bit more involved when your store uses multiple carriers. Apart from the default configuration, we will need to add a mapping for each Amazon Shipping that the store will use for this marketplace.

To add one, click “Add New Mapping” at the bottom. The field will be the same as in the default mapping, but a new one is added — Amazon shipping. This is the Shipping service as indicated in the Order Summary section on Amazon.

When finished, click Add Mapping and move on to add the other Shipping services. Here is how our mapping turned out:

Note the checkboxes in the default mapping. You can set your default mapping with predefined values or keep the default values from the order by having the checkboxes enabled. In this example, any orders with shipping other than Standard or Expedited can be transferred to Amazon the default values from the fulfilled order.
