This article highlights the most common issues encountered when syncing e-commerce stores with Amazon. We will go through the common cases and offer the steps to resolve them.

This article assumes that you have already added products to a Selling List and sent them to Amazon. Just in case you have not yet sent the products to Amazon, here are the basic steps:

  1. Add an Amazon account
  2. Create a Selling List
  3. Open the Selling List and add products to it
  4. Select the items in the Selling List and click the “Send to Amazon” action.

See a more detailed guide on sending products to Amazon here:
Send Shopify products to Amazon

The first step is to identify the error that appeared. Salestio keeps logs for most recent operations with products. In case something happens, you can just check the log messages to see what the issue is. To see the logs, go to the Selling List and find the item in question. Click on “Logs” to view the list of latest messages:

Logs can be opened from the Selling List view

Invalid Input Data for product feed

If a product barcode is missing from the product page, Salestio will be unable to locate the corresponding product in the Amazon catalog. This message will appear in the logs:

Invalid Input Data for product feed. Valid Product Identification was not provided

To resolve this, you can add a barcode like EAN or UPC to the Barcode field in your source store.

As an option, you can specify the ASIN found on the corresponding Amazon product page. Adding both ASIN and a barcode is not neccesary, as ASIN will take priority. After adding the product identifier, try sending the item once more.

Add ASINs to the corresponding fields in the Selling List

You can learn more about using ASINs for product listing in this guide:
Using ASINs instead of Barcodes to list Shopify and BigCommerce items with Salestio

SKU doesn’t match any ASINs

If a product has never yet been sold on Amazon, you will need to send additional details about it, so a new listing can be created. Specifying these details (color, country of origin, dimensions, etc.) requires a Creation Profile. For cases like this, sending a product without a Creation Profile may result in the following message:

SKU example-here, Missing Attributes product_type. SKU example-here doesn't match any ASINs. Make sure that all standard product ids (such as UPC, ISBN, EAN, or JAN codes) are correct. To create a new ASIN, include the following attributes: product_type. Feed ID: 0. For more troubleshooting help, see http://sellercentral.amazon.com.au/gp/errorcode/200692370

To create new product pages on Amazon, Shopify merchants can set up a Creation Profile and enable product creation. We have an example of listing an item on Amazon below, check it out:
Case Study: Create new listings of the Amazon “Charging adapter” product type

If you are using another platform like BigCommerce, Shopware, or another, the products can be created directly on Seller Central. After creating product pages on Amazon, you can link the through Salestio. Follow the steps below:

  1. List products through Seller Central.
Make sure to use the same product SKUs as in your e-commerce store.
  2. (Optional) create a Selling List and add your products to it. No need to send them yet.
  3. In Salestio, go to the Inventory tab and click “Download inventories”. Wait a few minutes before the products appear in the list.
  4. In Salestio > Inventory, click “Sync invenrories with selling products”. Items existing Selling Lists will become Linked, while a new “Migrated…” Selling List will be created for the rest of the products.
  5. It is advised to run the “Update QTY & Price” action after the products are linked. This way you can make sure that the products are synced from the start. Future updates will happen automatically.

SKU is associated to more than 1 GCID

The error below can appear in two different cases:

SKU [example-here] is associated to more than 1 GCID, which is not allowed. Please send a delete feed for this SKU and all other SKUs with the same attribute values [merchant_suggested_asin], and then resubmit the SKUs

This error might appear when the product you want to link to Amazon, has already been added to your Amazon Seller account but with a different SKU. To fix this error, please make sure to adjust SKUs, so that they are the same on Shopify and Amazon. Try sending the item once more after doing this.

Another case might be when the same product barcode corresponds to two different products in the Amazon catalog. Each Amazon product page has its own ASIN and counts as a different product. Still, even different ASINs can represent a similar product with the same EAN code. When that happens, you can specify an ASIN directly in the Selling List to resolve this overlap. Check the ASIN in the product details section of the product that you want to sell on Amazon. Then open the Selling List with the item and paste it in the “Add ASIN” field. Try sending the product again after adding the code to link it.

Possible errors when creating new Amazon products

In some cases, when the Creation profile is misconfigured, you may receive the below error:

Error during submitting Selling Variant with sku 'example-here' to 'Amazon'. Please, check mapping in Creation Profile

This error means that the corresponding mapping or Creation Profile is not found. Follow the steps below to make sure that the profiles are configured correctly:

  1. Note the Product Type, Collection, and Shopify category on the product in question. Check the mapping in the Creation Profile and make sure that the Conditions section corresponds to the attributes of this Shopify product.
Pay attention to the logic inside the conditions. For example, suppose a product is contained only in the “Bedroom” Shopify collection. If the condition is set to “collection: Bathroom AND collection: Bedroom”, like the example below, then the mapping will not be applied (the product will be missing a matching mapping). You can change it to “collection: Bathroom OR collection: Bedroom” to fix the issue. Remember to save the mapping and the Creation Profile after making changes.
This mapping will apply only if the product is in both Shopify collections at the same time
  1. Check the Amazon Profile. Make sure that product creation is enabled and the correct Creation Profile is selected. Save the profile after making changes.
Tick the “Allow Product creation” box and select the Creation Profile below
  1. Go to Selling List settings and check if the correct Amazon Profile is selected there.
  2. Send the product to Amazon again.

Another issue can occur when some of the fields required by Amazon are missing from the Creation profile. There are a lot of available fields for most Amazon categories. Not all of them are required, but in case you missed some, you will be notified about it in the error message. Some of the errors that can appear:

item_dimensions: The field 'height' for the attribute 'item_dimensions' does not have enough values. The required minimum is '1' value(s).(99022)
number_of_items: 'number_of_items' is required but not supplied.(90220)
included_components: The attributes are invalid.(90000900)

The above errors relate to the Item Height, Number of Items, and Included Components fields respectively.

To resolve errors like these, go back to the Creation Profile and edit the mapping. Click the pencil icon to start editing the mapping:

Click the pencil icon to edit the mapping

Add information to the fields that are mentioned in the error messages and save the profile. After the Creation Profile is fixed, try sending the item again.

Restricted brand or category

Some brands and categories require approval from Amazon. If you try to list a product from a restricted brand, you might get one of the below errors:

Error: The seller is not allowed to list products under the restricted brand
Error: Seller is not authorized to list products in this product line or category.

You can request approval directly from Seller Central. Follow the suggested steps to list products like this:

  1. Go to Seller Central and create one listing from the affected category or brand directly from there.
  2. Amazon can ask for additional information or documents. Provide the requested details.
  3. Wait until you get the approval and the product is listed. This may take a while.
  4. After the product is listed, return to Salestio and send the items again.

If you are trying to list in multiple restricted categories/brands, this process needs to be repeated for each of them.

Account-related errors

To ensure compatibility with Salestio, check if you are already a Pro Seller. Standard accounts are not supported. When adding the account, make sure to select the marketplaces where you have an active Amazon store. Only select the ones that you will use. Selecting inactive marketplaces will lead to errors, like the examples below:

Feed rejected Error Code: InvalidMarketplace. Error Type: Sender
Got error [400] { "errors": [ { "code": "InvalidInput", "message": "Invalid request parameters", "details": "" } ]

To resolve errors like this, try listing the item directly from Seller Central:

  1. Catalog > Add Products
  2. Select “I’m adding a product not sold on Amazon”
  3. Choose one of the Amazon categories using the category tree
  4. If there are any issues with your account configuration, you will be redirected to the corresponding page.
  5. After successfully listing the product via Amazon, return to Salestio and try sending the rest of the items again.

Duplicate updates were suppressed

It is important that each product and each variation in the store has a unique SKU. Salestio uses SKUs to identify the products both in the Seller Central inventory and e-commerce store inventory. In cases when you have identical SKUs on variations of a product, you may get an error like this:

Duplicate updates were suppressed. This occurs when the same SKU appears multiple times in the same feed. Send only one update with the affected SKU to avoid seeing this warning.

To resolve the error, check the item SKU in your store. Edit the SKUs on variants to make sure that they are unique. After editing the SKUs, try sending the item again.

Once the errors are resolved, repeat the Send to Amazon action. To send the products, go to the Selling List and select an item. Click “Send to Amazon”:

The action menu will appear after selecting products in the Selling List
