To identify the error, look for the items with a yellow Error status in the Selling List. Salestio keeps a log of recent events with all items, so you can check it and find out what the error is:

Logs can be opened from the Selling List view

Ebay category not found for product, please adjust Creation Profile

In some cases, when the Creation profile is misconfigured, you may receive the error below:

Error during submitting Selling Product with the title [Your Product Title] to Ebay. Ebay category not found for product, please adjust Creation Profile

This error means that the corresponding mapping or Creation Profile is not found. Follow the steps below to make sure that the profiles are configured correctly:

  1. Note the Product Type, Collection, and Shopify category on the product in question. Check the mapping in the Creation Profile and make sure that the Conditions section corresponds to the attributes of this Shopify product. Remember to save the mapping and the Creation Profile after making changes.
This mapping will apply only if the product is in both “Cappuccino” and “Artisan” Shopify collections at the same time
  1. Check the eBay Profile. Make sure that product creation is enabled and the correct Creation Profile is selected. Save the profile after making changes. If you are not using eBay Profiles, check these settings directly in the Selling List settings.
Enable Product creation and select a profile
  1. Go to Selling List settings and check if the correct eBay Profile is selected there.
  2. Send the product to eBay again.

Invalid quantity

The default settings for every eBay account allow listing products only with positive quantity. You may get this message when trying to list an item with zero stock:

The quantity must be a valid number greater than 0

To resolve this error, add some stock for this item on the corresponding Shopify product page and try sending it again.

If you would like to list items with 0 qty, consider changing the settings on your eBay account to use Out-of-stock control (My eBay > Selling > “Account” tab > Selling preferences > enable the Listings stay active when you’re out of stock option).

Missing Location or Postal Code

Item Location is always required. You may get the following error without specifying the needed details:

Error during submitting a product to eBay. Please add the Item Location

To resolve this, check the eBay Profile or Selling List settings and add the missing details in the “Additional Shipping Details” section:

Location-related fields can be added in the eBay Profile

If you are using calculated shipping for eBay orders, it is also required to enter dimensions and weight in the eBay profile.

Invalid condition

Some eBay categories (e.g. vintage items) are designed for a specific set of conditions (New, Used, Like New, etc.) In cases like this, the following error may appear:

Item condition is invalid

To resolve this, go to the Creation Profile and find the corresponding mapping. Change the Condition field to an appropriate value and try sending the product again. Acceptable values may depend on categories. For example, vintage clothing cannot be labeled as New.

Variations not enabled for category

eBay restricts variations for some of its categories. For some of the categories, the following error can appear:

The specified listing category does not support multi-variation (multi-SKU) listings

There are a couple of ways to resolve this:

A simple way is to change the eBay category to another one. Often the same product can be placed in a few different categories, so you can try changing categories without changing anything else. Go to the Creation Profile and set the same mapping to a different eBay category, save changes, and send the product again.

If products have only one variation, Salestio has a quick fix. Go to the Ebay Profile and disable the “Send the product with variation” option. This way, Salestio will send the item to eBay as if it didn’t have variations.

Disable this option if only one variant is present in Shopify

Titles too long

eBay has a limit on title length, so an item over this limit cannot be published. This error appears:

Listing titles are limited to 80 characters

This error can be resolved by editing the original title of the product. Reduce the title to 80 characters and send the item again.

As an option, you can trim the titles automatically. Go to the active Creation Profile and enable the “Automatically truncate long titles” option. Salestio will remove the extra characters automatically.

Title truncation can be enabled in the Creation Profile

Exceeding listing limits

Some eBay sellers can have a limit on how many items they can list each month. Trying to list more will result in the following error:

This listing would cause you to exceed the amount you can list. You can list up to $30.00 more in total sales this month.

To resolve this, you can decrease the quantity of the item in the store and try listing it again.

With Salestio, you can limit the quantity automatically by changing the Global Profile settings. To set a limit, go to the active Global Profile, change “Item QTY Mode” to “Not more than” and “Item QTY Value” to the maximum stock that you want to see.

This Global Profile will limit selling products to 10 stock

Account-related errors

Depending on the region and the kind of products that you want to sell, eBay may require additional information about your account. In cases like this, you may get one of the following messages:

Before you can list this item we need some additional information to create a seller's account.
eBay has partnered with Payoneer, a leading cross-border payments platform, to deliver payouts to you. Payoneer will contact you to verify your status. This process might take a few days. After you confirm your account is ready, come back to eBay to finish listing your item(s).

To resolve errors like this, you should log in to your seller account on eBay and check for notifications related to verifying the account. As an option, try listing one of the items directly through eBay. If the account is missing some information, you will be prompted to add all the necessary verifications.

After one of the items is listed, go back to Salestio and send the rest of the Selling List.
