Amazon Seller Fees FAQ

Amazon charges a referral fee on every sale, which is a percentage of the total sale price (including shipping). The percentage varies by product category - most categories charge 15%, while Electronics and Computers are 8%, Clothing is 17%, and Jewelry charges 20% on the first $250 and 5% above that. There is also a minimum referral fee (typically $0.30) that applies when the percentage-based fee would be lower.
FBA (Fulfilled by Amazon) means Amazon stores, packs, and ships your products. You pay FBA fulfillment fees (based on item size and weight) plus monthly storage fees. FBM (Fulfilled by Merchant) means you handle storage and shipping yourself. With FBM you avoid FBA fees but must manage logistics, and your products may not qualify for Prime shipping. Many sellers use FBA for popular items and FBM for slower-moving or oversized products.
Amazon charges a variable closing fee of $1.80 per item sold in media categories only. This applies to Books, Music, DVDs, Blu-ray, and Video content. Non-media categories do not incur this fee. This is in addition to the referral fee and any FBA fees.
FBA monthly storage fees are based on the cubic feet your inventory occupies in Amazon fulfillment centers. Rates are seasonal: January through September costs $0.87 per cubic foot, while the peak season from October through December costs $2.40 per cubic foot for standard-size items. Long-term storage fees may also apply for inventory stored over 181 days. Managing your inventory levels is crucial for keeping storage costs low.
Salestio integrates your e-commerce store (Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, or PrestaShop) directly with Amazon. This automation helps you manage inventory across channels, automatically sync prices, and import Amazon orders into your store. By streamlining multi-channel selling, Salestio helps reduce operational costs and errors, giving you more time to focus on growing your profit margins.

Amazon offers two seller account types. Individual sellers pay $0.99 per item sold (no monthly subscription). Professional sellers pay $39.99/month but have no per-item fee. If you sell more than 40 items per month, the Professional plan is more cost-effective. Our calculator lets you compare both options to find the best fit for your business.
